This is a great post and if you are a small business you really need to pay attention to what Bruce is saying here.

Bill

Bruce Clay talks with ReelSEO at Search engine strategies conference San Jose 2009. Bruce tells us about the importance of online video when it comes to SEO, universal and organic search rankings within Google both now and in the future. Video, which he classifies as one “engagement object” is thought to be of crucial importance when it comes to website rankings within Google. As Bruce puts it in this interview:

“I think, that a year from now, we are going to be sitting here saying – ‘if you don’t have video, if you don’t have engagement objects on your website, you are just not going to rank. It will make you last among equals if you dont have it.” – Bruce Clay

How well organized is your company site or blog? Were you told when it was designed that your website was optimized for good search engine performance?

But was it really?

Remember this: Search engines crawl and index web pages. Not websites.

Now this is where it might get confusing to the non SEO (search engine optimization) oriented person. You see, your website is only a bunch of pages to the engines. Each one unique in and of itself, based on the content it offers to your users and their searchers. Yes, the hope and goal when each site is built is that the search engine spiders will crawl and index the whole website. But more than that, you need to understand that each page needs to be optimized individually for maximum SEO, and the best SERP (search engine result pages) placement for your business website or blog.

What this means to you and your company site is this. Many websites are constructed as a big, mixed presentation of all the products and services your company provides. I see it each and every day.

However, SEO is not done this way effectively. You cannot optimize the site well if all of the products and services are a big hodge podge throughout the pages. Instead, you should target one term you desire for each page. Splitting off different products and services to their own page.

Let me give you an example. If your company sells household cleaning products, you need to split them off into sections, possibly even a page for each individual product. Totally depending upon the desired keywords and phrases you wish to obtain.

My advice, almost always to companies wanting to get the best SEO performance out of their website or blog is to split things up where ever possible. Focus on one product, one service, one keyword, or one keyphrase. Build your pages around each and optimize them as individuals. This is how you get the best SEO for a website. By considering the SEO for each page. Not just the site as a whole.

Think small. Keep each page focused and keep it clear. Your overall SEO efforts will show in the long run. In those tough to crack SERP pages.

If you will take the time, and think about each page, each product, and each service as individuals and then do the homework behind the keyword research, you can take your site to higher levels in the search engine result pages.

Page one is the goal. Page five of the result pages is NOT a business plan. It’s a recipe for bankruptcy.

So keep on optimizing. Keep on working on that SEO. You can get there if you stay focused on the prize. Don’t let your company website sit in the midst of mediocrity. Let it reign supreme.

SEO takes time, and it takes patience. But if you take it slow and easy and study the process, you can learn the basics in very little time. You can make your site perform better. You can get good organic search listings. All with just the investment of some time and energy.

Or you can call us…

There are many Search Engines and Directories, but only a few major ones will bring you most traffic. In this article I will describe how to submit your site to Yahoo, Google and Open Directory

1.) Directories And Indexes

First, I would like to describe a difference between Directory and Index. Directory is a collection of links divided by subjects just like Yahoo Directory at dir.yahoo.com. Let’s say you are interested in Finance. Go to Business & Economy section and press Finance. You will find variety of topics listed under Finance.

Index is the number of sites available for search. For example, you go to Yahoo.com and enter “Napoleon” in search box. Results will show a number of sites related to Napoleon in Yahoo Index. The same is true for any other search term. There are millions of sites in listed in major Indexes.

2.) How To Submit Your Site To Yahoo Directory

Listing with Yahoo Directory will provide several benefits for your site. First of all, you will get some traffic from Yahoo Directory. However, number of visitors will depend on category where your site is listed. There are some highly competitive categories that may not generate much traffic. Also some search indexes are more likely to include your site if you are listed with Yahoo Directory or Open Directory Project which is discussed later in this article.

You must decide what category your page will be listed under before before submitting it to Yahoo Directory. Usually there is more than one category appropriate for your site. You have to decide which one works best for you based on several factors: relevance, number of competing sites under the category. For example my site www.yourcareerlinks.com is listed under Business & Economy – Employment And Work – Careers And Jobs – Jobs – Directories.

In order to suggest your site to Yahoo Directory, select your category and click Suggest A Site link located below upper right corner. If your category is commercial, you can list your site only through Express submission.

Express submission costs $299. Yahoo editors check your site within 7 days. Please read Yahoo instructions carefully. Your payment of $299 doesn’t guarantee automatic inclusion. If they approve it, your site will be listed in Yahoo Directory and you will pay $299 annually to maintain it in the directory.

Yahoo Standard Submission is free for non-commercial sites. Yahoo doesn’t state when your site will be reviewed with free submission. If you have time to wait, you may try this option.

3.) How To Submit Your Site To Yahoo Index

When you go to http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html, first option is to submit your site for free to Yahoo Search Index. Before you do that, your site must be optimized for Search Engine inclusion with appropriate titles and meta tags. Below you will see what title and meta tags look for this page:

Web Marketing, How To Submit Your Site To Search Engines

Title describes your page in a few words. META name=”DESCRIPTION” is a short outline of what your web page is about. META name=”KEYWORDS” includes keywords relevant to the page. Each page of your site may have different Title and Meta Tags

The purpose of relevant titles and Meta Tags is to help web surfers to identify sites they are looking for through descriptions and keywords. However, it is quiet hard to get top Search Engine placement ( whch is to get listed among first 20- 30 results ) these days. There are many competitors, rules and criterias are constantly changing and it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain high ranking in the Index.

Chances are that your site is not going to be listed high with Indexes. Therefore, my recommendation is to use free submission options to Yahoo Search Index or any other Search Index for that matter unless you are an expert in Search Engine optimization and ranking. You don’t want to pay to get ranked number 256 or whatever.

4.) How To Submit Your Site To Google

Google is another major Search Engine. They offer two opportunities to market your site. You can submit the site to Google Index for free here. As I stated before, you probably are not going to get high ranking, but you might get some clicks from Google if your site will be listed.

Another option to advertise with Google is through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Program called Google AdWords. You can read in my article about Pay-Per-Click marketing here.

5.) Open Directory Project

Open Directory Project is directory of web sites managed by volunteer editors. Inclusion is free, but it has to be approved by editor. There is no time frame as to when your site will be reviewed. If your site is not listed within a few months after you applied, you can submit it again. Open Directory is located at www.dmoz.org. You should find appropriate category for your site and submit it.

There are other Search Engines out there. Many are based on Yahoo or Google Search. For example, Alta Vista (www.altavista.com ) is now based on Yahoo Search index. Therefore, if your site is listed with Yahoo Search Index, it is probably listed in Alta Vista as well. Some offer paid inclusion in their Index such as Excite while others like Lycos offer Pay Per Click options

In my opinion, the best way to bring traffic to your site is to list it with Yahoo, Google and Open Directory Project. In addition, one should use Pay Per Click marketing which is explained in my PPC Marketing Article at http://www.webhostchecklist.com/payperclick.html .

Here’s a quick and easy search engine optimization (SEO)
technique that anyone can use to generate free, high Google
pagerank links to their site.

SEO in a nutshell: get quality links to your site; the higher
the pagerank, the better.

The problem is that if you submit your site to a high pagerank
directory or search engine, it can take months for your site to
appear. Moreover, many high PR directories and search engines
charge big bucks for the privilege of getting listed with them.
For example, the Open Directory Project (DMOZ) directory takes
several months or more to list a site. And Yahoo charges $299
per year for a commercial site to be listed in their directory.

While it’s great to be listed in these directories and search
engines, many will automatically find and list your site free if
you have good quality links to your site. High pagerank links to
your site indicate to many search engines that other sites that
they rate highly link to you. Therefore, they conclude, your
site will probably be useful to their users. So you deserve a
higher pagerank, according to Google. And the higher your
pagerank, the better your search engine visibility. It’s part of
the SEO game and you can learn how to play.

Now here’s my secret to getting some high pagerank sites to link
to you immediately and at no charge.

First you need to create a web page on your site with a list of
links. You will be adding links to other sites on your links
page in exchange for these sites adding your link to their link
pages. So let’s call this page a reciprocal links page. You
don’t just add any site to your reciprocal links page, however.
You will be looking for high pagerank links to add to your links
page. It’s better if you include links to sites that are related
to your products or services. To make search engines happy,
limit each of your reciprocal links pages to about 50 links.

Many sites maintain their reciprocal link pages using the free
LinkMan script from PHPJunkYard. If you wish, you could do the
same, but it is not necessary. You can download this php script
from http://phpjunkyard.com

The LinkMan script allows a site’s visitors to add their links
immediately after they add links to the site on their pages. So
all you have to do is to find sites using this LinkMan script,
add their link to your reciprocal links page, and you can
immediately add your link to theirs.

Because the LinkMan script is free, the developer requires the
following notice on the links page: “Powered by Link manager
LinkMan 1.02 from PHPJunkYard – free php scripts.”

You can find sites using LinkMan then by searching for the exact
phrase “Powered by Link manager LinkMan 1.02 from PHPJunkYard”
on Google, for example. Note that there are other scripts named
Linkman, so you should not just search for “LinkMan”. Play
around with your search phrase to find also sites using earlier
versions of LinkMan.

Visit some PHPJunkYard LinkMan link pages with a browser showing
the Google pagerank. You will very soon come across a site using
LinkMan that has a high Google pagerank. Bingo! Add their link
to your reciprocal links page and then add your link to theirs.
You immediately have a free link on a high pagerank site. Free
instant SEO!

And that’s a quick and easy search engine optimization technique
you can use to generate free, high pagerank links.

——————————————–

Hell No, it’s not about page rank at all when you want the attention your website deserves.

It’s all about the content and words on your site that will determine on which page you’re website will be displayed in the search engines.

When your site is for example all about money, you talk money, dream money do money and in the end hopefully make money. Every sentence you write on you webpage has to do with money and every sentence has to come as a complete logical story about that money you talking about.

It becomes easier when you specialize in a certain field of expertise.

A friend of mine is enthusiastic about Forex robotraders that makes him all too much money. He decided to start a blog about Forex robotraders he uses and later on made a website to let the world now about this product. His website didn’t do much for about 3 months, then came the changes in his web stats and he saw his website being found on certain words like robotrader, make money with Forex robotraders… and so on, the list grows daily.

His website shows every time on the first page of Google with the right keywords and Yahoo and MSN are following. Last time I checked on the word robotrader his site stood on number six in Google. Not to bad for a hobbyist.

The pagerank is zero, does pagerank matter? Perhaps! I don’t think to hard about it. Most webmasters have a need to link to each other and create pages full of links just to get noticed by the search engines that the rest of their website is full of crap.

The most visitors will not even notice which pagerank a website has and will not care about it, when the website they reached has professional look and has the tools they need it will already work for the most of visitors.

Writing articles then publish them on forums or blogs is a start, You will find when you search: SEO especially for Google an article from me…? It comes up number one in Google.

Yes from me, I learned some tricks in the SEO field so can you.

This article will show up on certain keywords also, so when you read this you know.

The Search Engine Optimization, or SEO of your website is very important in order to get a high ranking with the major search engines, like Google and Yahoo. Though there are many websites that boast of SEO techniques and tips that guarantee top placement in the search engines, it is better to use the help of SEO software to help you with your optimization needs.

It is always better to use a reliable software program, and there are several different types of search engine optimization software available on the internet. However, the best software implements the two major SEO techniques: On-page optimization and Off-page optimization.

On-page optimization software uses title tags, alt-image tags, meta tags, quality content, ease of navigation, H1 and H2 tags, internal linking and other features to optimize your website for search engines.

On the other hand, off-page optimization software specializes in link building techniques to increase your website’s page rank and popularity. For achieving this, off-page optimization software uses techniques such as reciprocal linking, directory submissions, PPC advertisements, use of keyword rich anchor text for the linking of text and in non-reciprocal linking.

Off-page optimization is usually considered to be more valuable than on-page optimization. This does not mean that on-page optimization has no value, and is not required because in order to make your website more search engine friendly you need to use both of these techniques appropriately.

There are many types of SEO software programs which help in the implementation of off-page optimization and this software helps in the improvement of link popularity with reciprocal and non-reciprocal links. Some websites offer monthly membership for the use of their Link Popularity software while other websites offer them for a one-time fee.

When you buy software, buy it from a website with good technical support and a proven track record. Avoid websites that are one time sellers with no indication of future upgrades. It is also better to choose websites that have a discussion forum with quality user feedback. SEO software from a website that has a good product review is always safer. However, there are many companies that have their own product reviews which look more like self propaganda, and cannot be considered as an honest product review.

Submission of articles to websites is a great means of boosting traffic to your website. Upon writing effective articles, the next step lies in submitting your article into the appropiate category. Instead of doing this manually, it is better to use good SEO software that helps with the submission of articles to various article directories.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) is another means of getting traffic to your website. Though there are many PPC programs available, the main point lies in choosing the right keyword that provides meaning to the content of your website. With the best search engine optimization software, the adwords campaign is optimized to help choose the right keyword combo for the PPC. This procedure saves you time and money.

There are several types of software programs found on the internet. However the best search engine optimization program for your website depends upon the needs you have for the software. It is best to read product reviews, and note the important features of a website selling SEO software to decide which software is the best search engine optimization software.

Internet Search Engines see something totally different than what we see when we look at a webpage. It is all in the webpage code. Have you ever seen webpage code? Place one of your webpages into your browser.

Now right click your mouse. Go almost to the very bottom and click view source or view page source. That is what the internet search engine sees when it looks at your webpage. That is your webpage code.

Robots or spiders are sent out to crawl these pages of code. They hand off the information to indexers. The indexers take the information and store it in a vast database. It is generally stored in relevant areas in the database. For instance, information on training dogs would not be found alongside information on eyeglasses.

These databases are set up like this for keywords. Keywords are entered into a search engine for finding topics related to your website. You will need to optimize your website with relevant keywords in order to get the best possible placement in the search engines.

You should use your keywords and keyword phrases effectively within your site. When the spiders come to crawl your site the keywords then get picked up. There should be a variety of keywords and keyword phrases used.

Within the code of your site you should use keywords also in the title tag. They should be used in a descriptive sentence for each page within your site. The most relevant words and phrases should be used in the home page title. Repeat the keyword phrase two or three times.

Use of Meta tags is also important. Place all relevant keyword phrases in your Meta tag. Sometimes it is best to use phrases rather than single keywords; as single keywords can be very competitive. Also avoid their overuse.

Overuse can hurt website placement with some search engines. Use commas or spaces to separate the keywords but do not use both. Use the singular and plural forms of the word or phrase, also upper and lower case words and phrases.

The content of your site is the most important part of keyword placement. Search engines often concentrate on the first 250 words. They hunt for relevancy and density, so place the majority of your keywords there.

Try and get a five to seven percent density but not much more than that. Search engines will consider this spamming and it will hinder your placement. Make sure the content makes sense without sounding too repetitive. It may be helpful to write your content without your keywords and then modify the content to incorporate your most relevant keywords.

Internet search engines do not penalize websites for no reason. If you experience a drop in your ranking do not point the finger of blame at them. It could very well be the fault of your competition; in which case you have to sharpen up your tools.

“The Ten important Steps for optimizing your website for search engines:
In these ten steps we will know ten basics and important steps to optimizing a website to perform better on major search engines. If you will follow these steps correctly your website search engine position website will be surly improve depending on you industry competition.

Step 1 – Keyword Selection
Step 2 – Creating optimized Content
Step 3 – Site Structure
Step 4 – Internal Linking
Step 5 Submissions
Step 6 Link Popularity Building
Step 7 – Title and Meta tags
Step 8 Monitoring
Step 9 social bookmarking
Step 10 Testing

Step 1 – Keyword Selection

Selecting Keyword is the single most important factor in the entire search engine optimization (optimisation) process. Choosing the right and relevant keywords will not only help you in getting good search engine position and targeted traffic but it will also increase you return on investment (ROI).

Example: If you are a company based in UK providing search engine optimization (optimisation) (SEO) services. The first keyword in your mind would be definitely

Keyword Competition
SEO : 73,000,000
Search engine optimization : 63,600,000
Seo Company : 26,800,000

It is possible to get good ranking on these keywords but it will take lot of time and money instead you can target “”Seo Company Uk” and “Search engine optimization company Uk’ this way you are targeting two keyword at a time with less competition that means more chance of targeted traffic and good Search engine positions.
Keyword selection and research tools

The Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool
Site: http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

Word Tracker
Site: http://www.wordtracker.com/
Step 2 – Creating optimized Content

There has been lot of changes in the search engine algorithms but there is no change in the importance given to quality content. In this step we will focus on how to create optimized and unique content for high search engine positioning using the keywords we have selected in the first step.
Unique and well written content will both grab your visitor’s attention and at the same time, make them want what you have to offer. So write in keeping mind what your audience are looking for and targeted keywords.

First ask yourself some questions:

What services you offer
Do you provide the services your visitors are looking for

Do some research
Provide as much as possible information on the subject. Provide useful and unique information about your industry / subject area it can entice your visitors to visit your website in future. It has found that most of the online visitors search for information about their interests.
Content Optimization

Four important factors for optimizing content
1. Heading Tags – (H1 to H6)
2. Special Text – (bold etc.)
3. Inline Text Links – (Anchor text and alt tags for images )
4. Keyword Density – (number of occurrences of your targeted keywords in a page)

Heading Tags
By default text in these tags appear too large than standard text in a browser. We can customize it by using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
Tip: Do not use the same tag more then once on a page.

Special Text
It can be used in bold, colored, “”In quotes”" or (in brackets). Using special text will help draw the attention to important information and also add weight to your keywords.

Inline Text Links
Example: We provide seo services and web hosting.
You add a link to related page on your site to these bold words. it gives the reader a way to find the information you are referring to.

Keyword Density
Keyword density is the no. of occurrences of targeted keyword in the content of the page. You should not spam the targeted keyword in your content; recommended keyword density is between 4% to 10%.

Step 3 – Site Structure
You must structure your website to attract the visitor as well as the search engine spiders. The site structure will help spiders read your site. Keep the code as clean as possible so search engine spider can get to your content, where you want them to be.
Use CSS to cut down code extra code like for font style, tables, images etc…

Things to remember while planning site structure
Keep URL Short and close to Root of the site
While creating folder and files use keyword
Eg: for a page in web hosting packs www.domainname.com/web-hosting/website-hosting.html
Use Hyphens (-) while splitting name in to 2 instead of underscore (_) as shown in above example.

Step 4 – Internal Linking
Internal linking means linking to your pages within the website by way of sitemap, navigation bar, footer, header etc. The sitemap should be linked on all pages of your website to get spidered by search engines from anywhere. You should also include Google sitemap on your site to get indexed easily by Google. It adds relevancy to the linked page which directly helps in getting high rank for the linked page
Using text based links with anchor text, footer navigation and use inline text link will improve Your Internal Linking Structure. So spider can crawl it easily add relevancy to the linked page. The closer a page is in clicks from your homepage. The higher the value the page rank is assigned.
Step 5 Submissions

Where to submit:
o Search engines
o Web directories
Major search engines to submit
Google.com | yahoo.com | Msn.com
Major web directories to submit
1. Yahoo (paid)
2. Dmoz.org (most important)

http://www.about.com/

http://www.incrawler.com/

http://www.jayde.com/

3. http://www.wowdirectory.com/

Step 6 Link Popularity Building

There are 2 ways of building Link popularity
o Reciprocal link building (2 way link building)
o Non-reciprocal link building (1 way link building)

Reciprocal link building

There are some basic rules to follow when exchanging links:
Relevancy is more important
Check and make sure the reciprocal link aren’t being blocked and pages are indexed
Link pages with more than 50 links aren’t worth exchanging with

Non-reciprocal link building

It can be in form of paid link, directory listings, social bookmarking, article publishing ,blogs and press releases
Step 7 – Title and Meta tags

Once you have planned and completed the site structure and content integration. Its turn for Title Meta and Description. Unique and optimized title and Meta tags are really helpful in achieving higher search engine positions

Title:
this tag represents information of page this can be in browsers header bar

Meta keywords:
This include the targeted keywords for that particular page

Meta description:
The Meta description shows on the SERPS (search engine results page). It is used in describing the products / services you offer to your customers, you can describe specific pages within your website that shows in the search results page.
You can describe your pages the way you want them to be seen by your visitors in the SERPS (search engine results pages)
Next is alt tags, Alt tags is a white hat SEO practice used very commonly by search engine optimizers

An example of alt tag:

Step 8 Monitoring

There are three basic things in the monitoring process. They are:
Monitoring your search engine positions:
You can go through the searches manually, you can use software like IBP to check your rankings or you can use online. There can find many related Seo tools listed here http://www.seocompany.ca/tool/seo-tools.html

Monitoring Back Links

Schedule weekly checks of how many backlinks you have and are your link partners still linking to you
Monitoring Changes in the Search Environment
The last thing you will have to monitor is for changes with the search engines themselves.
Visiting forums and subscribing to newsletters to keep yourself updated about search engines algorithm changes

Step 9 social bookmarking

The social bookmarking is used by many people to bookmark their pages and websites. Using the social bookmarking visitors can bookmark the sites listed in the social networking websites. The popularity of the websites in the social bookmarking world gauged by most favorites websites among the visitors. The most bookmarked website obviously will get more traffic than others and it can also help improving your search engine ranking in major search engines.
How does it work?

In a social bookmarking system, users store lists of Webpage Urls, which they find useful. Often, these lists are publicly accessible, and other people with similar interests can view the links by category, tags, or even randomly. Some social bookmarking systems allow for privacy on a per-bookmark basis.
Most bookmarking websites allows to enter multiple tags for your web pages in order to be searched by the visitors that helps social bookmarking visitors to get relevant and accurate search results for their keywords.

Advantages
1. Social bookmarking helps in promoting your website users market your site.
2. It indirectly helps by building a brand.
3. Generates targeted traffic.
Some important social bookmarking sites
Dig.com | Blink |Del.icio.us |Digg |Furl |Google |Simpy |Spurl |Y! MyWeb
Step 10 – Testing

You have created a great design and added SEO elements to your site. Now its time to see if all that hard work done has achieved the main goal of reaching the visitor and to convert them to a customer.

o Check for broken links :
o Other script errors
o Ease in navigating site
o visual appeal of the site
o placement of content
o are you able to find what u are looking for

You have created a great design and added SEO elements to your site. Now you should test your website for errors (i.e. 404 not found error, script errors etc.).
Check for broken links :
Other script errors
Ease in navigating site
Visual appeal of the site
Placement of content
Are your visitors able to find what they are looking for?

Have you ever considered…?

Offering additional value on your website for affiliates and partners. You can place links to their sites and products, for example, and ask them to do the same for you. In addition, you can advertise affiliate or partner books or videos if these products relate to your industry, and are not in competition with your own product or service line.

To sell a product or service to your prospective customer, you must first get them to visit your website. Advertising isn?t the answer, unless you are willing to buy expensive ads from search engines that will give you great placement in the search results list when a customer searches for one of your keywords. You are better served to focus on the search engines and directories. Most customers will only look at the first 2-3 links the search engines deliver in the search results list, so you need to be among the first few sites to get your customers? attention.

The most important factor to your website success is your own search engine savvy. Simply, you must understand the basic principles of search engines so you can capitalize on how these engines work, and on the information they deliver to your prospective customer. First, develop an understanding of the different types of search mechanisms offered on the web. These are search engines and directories. Do your research so you can determine what will help your website?and you will succeed.

You Don’t want to have to change web hosts in mid-stream unless you absolutely have to do so, so do your homework and ask questions ahead of time. Be sure your web host can accommodate e-commerce and storefronts, wireless capability, blogs and anything else you want to add onto your site. Estimate your growth needs and ensure that this web host can serve you as you grow.

To get repeat web traffic, update the pages on your website frequently. Some search engines and directories will drop sites that are stagnant. You can even put a date on the page to show when it was last updated. Add a link to your primary pages with a script to ?book mark or add this site to your favorites.?

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own website search engine ranking, consider hiring someone to work with you on these issues. Search engine promotion and search engine marketing companies and individuals will look at your plan for your new or existing site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. They can also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for edits and changes to keep your site traffic flowing and your search engine ranking high. They should with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

Do not annoy your customers by presenting products on your website that are marked ?sold? or pages that say ?under construction? or ?coming soon.? Do add new content frequently so returning customers will not be bored by seeing the same products they saw four months ago. If your site is dated or has current references, be careful to change these references frequently so you Don’t give the perception that your site is gathering dust.

To enhance your credibility and positioning as an expert in your website topic area(s), offer your customers a free eBook or a report for a minimal charge. Write it yourself and allow your member customers or those who are receiving newsletters to download the report or eBook. If you Don’t want to write it yourself, you can hire a freelance writer to ghostwrite it for you at a relatively low cost and Take what you’ve learned in this lesson and begin working now.

I have been asked many times if adding RSS feed content to your web site helps improve page rank and web site placement in the free search listings. First we have to look at RSS and if it’s right for your web site.

RSS is basically Really Simple Syndication written in XML code. It allows a script to run in a RSS Reader or on your website that allows updated content that you subscribe to automatically become up to date as soon as it is published.

The great thing about this is that you can always have fresh content on your site without having to do any updating or babysitting.

Search engines have been known to eat up RSS feed content on web sites. They love to deliver new information to visitors. One thing to remember is that the feed must be displayed in HTML format. Search engine spiders do not read java script as plain text, so it is essential to better placement that HTML code be placed in your site instead.

There are several programs that do all the hard work for you. RSS Equalizer is easy to install and lets you customize your feeds to fit your particular subject content you need. It all works on your web server backend. You log in, set up the categories of feed you want, test them, and place them on your site. No need to update, it’s all automatic.

Next, does your site have an area that you can ad RSS feed content to? You can ad some to the home page. In the setup, you can set how many topics you want listed on a page.

It is only relevant to the engines if the keywords you are trying to place with also reflect in the RSS content. So the keywords must be in the title tag, keyword tag, description tag, page content, and RSS feed content for best results.

Try testing a secondary page that is not your home page. Optimize your web site for best placement, and then add the RSS content. MSN will pick it up very quickly, Yahoo, and Google will be soon to follow. If certain content doesn’t work, go back to the sites where you pulled the RSS feeds from and see if there is more keyword relevant content.

For example you can pull an SEO related feed that will have SEO in every topic. Ten topics to the feed, that’s 10 keywords added to your page content.

Keep an eye on it for the first few weeks. If it is getting you into the listings, you are doing great. You have a robotic editor keeping your site in great position.

Good luck and have fun not matter what you do.
